Gehaltsrechner β Salary Calculator Guide
What it does
The Salary Calculator lets you configure and compute employee compensation with full Swiss compliance. You enter employment type, work percentage, and gross salary, and the calculator shows you the complete breakdown of social insurance deductions (AHV, ALV, BVG, UVG, KTG) and net pay. Each saved configuration becomes a salary period on the employee's record.
How to set up
- Configure your insurance solutions β go to Organization > Insurance. Set up your BVG (pension), KTG (daily sickness), UVG (accident), and AHV/FAK providers with their rates. These are used as defaults when calculating deductions.
- Open an employee profile β go to Employees and click on the person you want to configure.
- Add a salary configuration β click "Add new" on the Salary Configurations card. Choose the employment type: monthly salary, hourly rate, or freelance.
Daily use
Creating a new salary configuration
- Select the employment type β monthly, hourly, or freelance (with VAT).
- Enter the full-time gross salary and work percentage. The calculator computes the effective salary automatically.
- Set hours per week, vacation days, and whether a 13th-month salary applies.
- Optionally add a company car private-use amount if the employee has one.
- Review the deduction breakdown β the calculator shows each insurance contribution (employee and employer share).
- Click Save to create the salary period. If a previous open-ended configuration exists, it is automatically closed.
Adjusting compensation
- Open the employee profile and click the existing salary configuration.
- Make your changes β for example, a new work percentage or a salary increase.
- Set the valid from date so the change takes effect on the right date.
- Save. The previous configuration's end date is set automatically.
Vacation day suggestions
The calculator can suggest vacation days based on company rules and the employee's age. Click "Suggest vacation days" to see the recommendation, then adjust if needed.
Works together with
- Employees β salary configurations live on the employee profile.
- Contracts β each salary configuration can have a PDF employment contract generated from a template.
- Payroll β the payroll module uses salary configurations to generate monthly payslips with the correct deductions.
- Organization Settings β insurance solution rates and company defaults are pulled from your organization configuration.
Tips
- The full-time gross salary is the base. The effective salary is calculated as full-time gross multiplied by the work percentage. Always enter what the position pays at 100%.
- Insurance overrides are possible per employee. If one employee has a special BVG arrangement, you can override the default rates on their configuration.
- Open-ended configurations close automatically. When you create a new salary period, the previous one's end date is set to the day before β no gaps, no overlaps.
- Use the preview to verify before saving. The deduction breakdown updates in real time as you change values.
