Gehaltsrechner β€” Advanced Salary Calculator

Employment types in detail

The calculator supports three employment types, each with different calculation logic. Monthly salary is the standard for permanent employees β€” you enter the annual or monthly gross and the system handles pro-rating based on work percentage. Hourly rate is for on-call or variable-hour workers β€” the gross is calculated from actual hours worked each month. Freelance adds VAT handling on top, since freelancers invoice the company rather than receiving a payslip.

When switching an employee from one type to another, create a new salary configuration with the new type and a start date. The old configuration closes automatically.

Insurance deduction layers

Swiss social insurance deductions follow a layered structure. The mandatory deductions (AHV/IV/EO and ALV) apply to everyone and are split equally between employer and employee. BVG (pension) contributions depend on the employee's age bracket and the chosen pension plan β€” the calculator applies the correct rate automatically based on date of birth. UVG (accident insurance) covers workplace and commute accidents; KTG (daily sickness allowance) is optional but commonly offered.

Each insurance type can be overridden per employee if they have a special arrangement. The override applies only to that salary configuration β€” future configurations inherit the organization defaults again unless you override them too.

13th-month salary

When enabled, the 13th-month salary distributes an extra month's pay across the year. The calculator factors this into the monthly gross so that deductions are calculated on the correct annual total. The 13th month is typically paid out in December or split across two payments (June and December), depending on your payroll settings.

Salary history and comparisons

Each saved configuration creates a historical record on the employee profile. You can see all past and current salary periods in chronological order. This is useful for annual reviews β€” compare the current configuration side by side with the previous one to see exactly what changed (salary, work percentage, insurance rates).

Company car private-use valuation

If an employee has a company car for private use, Swiss tax law requires adding a percentage of the car's purchase price to their taxable income. Enter the monthly private-use amount in the calculator and it will be included in the gross salary for deduction purposes. This affects all insurance contributions proportionally.
